The season of Lent began this week --- and it’s the perfect time for the complicated debate of how to punish crime. Lent is a season to focus on why the human race needs a repair plan.   
As the Crime Omnibus bill faces a Parliamentary procedure in Canada, and is likely to be passed soon, I want to resurrect the arguments for including soul work for prison rehabilitation. Let’s think deeply on the arguments that Canadian church leaders advanced at the beginning of this Tough on Crime legislation, here there are from an earlier piece that is still relevant.
