30-year old Abdulahi Hasan Sharif is accused of allegedly stabbing an Edmonton police constable and running down four pedestrians on Jasper Avenue. Sharif has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, four counts of criminal flight causing bodily harm, dangerous driving, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
At a news conference this afternoon, The RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team announced it has taken over the investigation. RCMP Supt. Stacy Talbot, who heads up INSET in Alberta is quoted as saying, “The complexities of a terrorism investigation are vast. If warranted, further charges will be pursued.”
As yet, there have been no terrorism related charges after this attack in Edmonton over the weekend.
