The United Nations is warning that the world’s newest country, South Sudan is on the edge of collapse threatening the safety of millions. In November 2016, the UN Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng, warned of the risk of “all out ethnic war” with the potential to escalate into genocide. We speak with a former South Sudanese Refugee and a UN Refugee worker currently on the ground in South Sudan about the crisis.
